Art Update 3 Sept 2017

Hey! Here’s the art I’ve done over the past week or so.

This first tree is actually the last one I did this week. I’ve been fiddling around with a few types of pens, but coming back to brush pens just feels right. The lines are more cohesive and less stilted than in the following two sketches.

These are a couple studies of photographs I did while at a coffee shop with a friend. I used a parallel pen, which is an interesting tool, but the lines are much less smooth and have some harsh angles. They’re good for getting some quick sketches in, and are all that expensive.

The above two sketches are a pair of Zerg buildings from the StarCraft universe. I was inspired by them, watching a Let’s Play, and figured they could have some cool pieces I can co-opt for my hell trees. Plus, doing these studies was a blast.

Here’s the hell tree I did, with some pieces borrowed from the above sketches. I’m rather happy with it, although this scan sucks. I used my custom, new blade nib fountain pen for it (and the above sketches), and I think it gets some nice lines. I’ll play around with it more.

Thank you for reading! I hope you enjoyed my art. If you’d like to see more, be sure to check back here, follow my Twitter, follow or pledge on Patreon, or check out my twice-weekly streams (tentatively at 2pm EST on Tues and Thurs)!
